St. Clare Home, established in 1927, is a 47-bed skilled nursing facility located in the heart of Newport, RI offering the highest quality care to our residents. In addition to 24-hour nursing care, St. Clare Home provides a variety of recreational activities to suit the physical, social, and emotional needs of our residents, delicious meals prepared by our own chefs, housekeeping and laundry services, medical social services, and dietary and rehabilitative consultations and treatments. Mary Beth has been caring for the residents of St. Clare Home for more than 14 years. Her background includes social work, admissions, marketing, quality assurance and nursing home administration. She oversees the day-to-day operations of St. Clare Home and assists residents with their transitions from independent living to their new long term care environment, while providing one-to-one counseling for residents and their families.
Mary Beth is licensed in Nursing Home Administration and Assisted Living Residence Administration. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, Counseling, and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island and a Masters' of Science in Healthcare Administration.

Dr. Derolf has served as the Medical Director at St. Clare Home for more than 20 years. He has been a family practitioner on Aquidneck Island and has affiliated with Newport Hospital since 1983. Dr. DeRolf is a graduate of Brown Medical School. He is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP) and currently serves as Chairman of the Ethics Committee at Newport Hospital.

Christen Parker Jones specializes in the support of individuals and their families through psycho-social skills. Throughout a 19-year career in the healthcare field, her experiences include issues concerning long-term care, human development, geriatrics, sub-acute care and Alzheimer's care.
Christen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Masters of Arts in Social and Personality Psychology from Rhode Island College. She is a lifelong Rhode Islander, and particularly enjoys helping the residents of St. Clare Home build stronger relationships with their families.

Linda has 30 years of experience in long term care with a specialty in Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia care. In addition to her degree in nursing, she also holds a BA in physiological psychology for which she has performed extensive research, cognitive skills and behavior management.
Linda is a recognized author, speaker and trainer in the understanding and care of those with Alzheimer's Disease. She has facilitated many support groups for families, children and those diagnosed with Alzheimer's including a current support/education group for families at St. Clare Home.
Linda has been involved in the design and launch of special care units in several states and has worked with architectural firms to develop therapeutic environments for the elderly. She presently serves as a member of the Rhode Island Alzheimer's Association Medical Advisory Committee and the Aquidneck Place Assisted Living Advisory Board.

Ken has more than 35 years in the food industry and 20 years developing dietary menus for health care facilities. He has extensive knowledge of planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the dietary department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

Father Walsh has been the Chaplain at St. Clare Home since 1998. Ordained in 1962, he has served as Pastor and Assistant Pastor at several parishes in Rhode Island. He has served as Director of the Knights of Columbus Vocation Council; Director of the Catholic Youth Organization: Providence North; State Chaplain of the Blue Army; Member of the Diocesan Vocation Council; Editorial Advisory Board Member of the Providence Visitor; Advisory Board Member for the Continuing Education of the Clergy; The Priests' Personnel Board and the Mariological Society of America.
Father Walsh holds an A.A. from Our Lady of Providence Seminary, B.A. in Theology from the University of Angers, France, M.A. in Biblical Studies from Providence College, and a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Ottawa, Canada. He is a native of Newport.

Advisory Board
John J Barry III is Secretary for Catholic Charities and Social Ministry for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence. He has worked for the Diocese for 37 years and is a member of the Pawtucket City Council.
Christopher Boyle is a lifelong Newport resident and an active and devoted member of the St. Clare family. He is a practicing attorney and government relations consultant who received his bachelor's degree from Providence College and his juris doctor from Suffolk University. Mr. Boyle represented the City of Newport in the Rhode Island General Assembly from 1981 to 1993 and was a member of the House leadership team serving as Majority Whip from 1988 to 1993. He has served on the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education, the Rhode Island Clean Water Finance Agency, the Board of Directors for Rhode Island Labor Studies and Research, the Edward King Senior Center, and People's Credit Union. Mr. Boyle currently serves on the board of the Martin Luther King Scholarship Fund and Sail Newport.
Donato Andre D'Andrea has conducted a general law practice in Newport for 40 years and is an active member of the community. He has served on the Newport City Council, the Newport School Committee, Newport Hospital Board of Trustees, and has held the positions of town solicitor for the Town of Portsmouth and President of the Newport Rotary Club.
Mr. D'Andrea has been active in several parishes including St. Mary's Church, St. Joseph's Church, and Church of Jesus Saviour. He holds an economics degree from Brown University and a law degree from Boston College.

Paul Gaines held a career in education that spanned 37 years with 28 of those years spent in higher education at Bridgewater State where he helped start the Program for Registered Nurses. He would later become the Mayor of Newport, making him the first African American mayor in New England.
Mr. Gaines presently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Newport County Community Mental Health Center.
Ms. Golder is the innkeeper and owner of the Spring Street Inn in Newport, Rhode Island and prior to that worked as a wine distributor for a well known French importer. She has lived in San Francisco, Manhattan, France, and northern Europe. Ms. Golder has experience working for national trade associations and portfolio management firms as well as extensive volunteer experience with social service agencies. Currently Ms. Golder is a board member and fund development chair at the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center and has an active interest in the Newport Public Library.
Monsignor Albert A. Kenney was born and educated in Massachusetts. He studied for the priesthood at Providence College and the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Bishop Louis E. Gelineau ordained him to the priesthood on September 3, 1994 in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul in Providence. He served as assistant pastor at St. Mary, Pawtucket (1996); part-time chaplain at LaSalle Academy (1997-2010); and as assistant vocations director, Seminary of Our Lady of Providence (1998).
Then Father Kenney was appointed Director of Vocations and Spiritual Formation at the seminary in June of 1998 and in 2004 he was appointed Rector. In 2010, he was appointed Assistant Moderator of Curia while continuing as Rector at the Seminary and in 2011 was appointed Vicar General while still serving as Rector at the Seminary. Monsignor Kenney also serves on the Council of Priests and the College of Consultors.
Patrick O'N. Hayes, Jr. has practiced law in Newport for over thirty years. He concentrates his practice in estate planning, asset protection, wills and trusts, probate, and real estate development. Mr. Hayes was born in Newport. He is a 1969 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and a 1974 graduate of Suffolk University Law School. He served as Town Solicitor for the Town of Tiverton from 1978-1982, Legal Counsel to Rhode Island Senate Finance Committee from 1981-1983, as a member of the Committee on Professional Ethics and Responsibility from 1982-1983, and on the Steering Committee for the Newport Comprehensive Planning Commission. He was a director of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce from 1993-1999 and is a past director of the Newport County Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Hayes is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and has vast experience providing guidance to individuals on estate planning and probate matters, and to individuals and businesses for zoning and real estate transactions and other legal issues.
Mr. Sabatino is the Chief Financial Officer for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.
Msgr. Paul D. Theroux, a priest since 1977, presently serves as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Diocese of Providence. In this position he assists the Bishop in coordinating the administrative functions of the diocese. Msgr. Theroux also assists in the pastoral ministry of St. Margaret Parish in Rumford where he is in residence.
